My son is required to have and use this program for his Calc series at UM-Dearborn. After talking to mathematicians. this is not the best program out there and unless you get the education discount through the university, it is not worth spending your own money on. Evidently, it is not that user friendly.

I wasn't planning to buy it, but I was interested in the free Mathemathica player and the sample simulations that are already out there.

Have you seen GeoGebra? It's free, and it's really neat. Theres a learning curve, but I found some free tutorials online.
